When you consider the number of Baby Boomers turning 65 each day, it’s no surprise that even celebrities are hired to advertise Medicare plans.
Celebrities who are paid to do those advertisements. I don’t blame them.
If you watch any television, you have no doubt seen one of these commercials for Medicare plans. All of these advertisements are designed to do one thing, and one thing only.
Get you to call.
A lot of times, they’ll say, “It’s a free call. They looked up my plan. They offered to enroll me into a plan,” yet they never say, “They enrolled me into a plan through [whichever company they are being paid to advertise].”
My advice? Do not be so quick to call. These ads are very good at making you think you should make a change. They will make you think you are gaining something. What they don’t tell you is what you are losing.
I’ll guarantee that if you make a change, you will lose your local agent. That agent is often someone who is vested in your community.
The advertisement can be so compelling that you might start thinking, “Why hasn’t my agent told me about this?” All you need to do is reach out to your local agent and I’ll bet my bottom dollar that he or she will be happy to help answer your questions.
And if you don’t hear back from your agent, look for another local, professional agent. Someone who knows your area, studies the plans, and is available for you: someone like myself.
If I help you, I’ll come along with your plan. I’ll be your agent for the long haul; not just today, but well into the future. Give me a call and we will discuss your personal situation.
Let’s work together to find the best plan for you.
